Redistricting may mean changes for you

The Legislature has approved a map for Iowa redistricting so that every citizen will continue to have an equal voice in government.

The Legislative Services Agency used the latest Census numbers to redraw congressional, state senate and state house districts. You can check out what those districts will look like at www.legis.iowa.gov/Resources/Redist/redistricting.aspx.

Iowa’s election boundaries to change

In 2011, the Iowa Legislature will establish new boundaries for State Senate, State Representative and U.S. House districts.

All states go through this redistricting process every ten years after census data is collected. This time around, Iowa will lose one Congressional seat because of shifts in population nationwide, giving us four seats, instead of five, in the U.S. House.
